Jose Mourinho Charged by UEFA Over Anthony Taylor Abuse

VIVA – Jose Mourinho was suspended for four matches in Europe for assaulting referee Anthony Taylor after Roma lost to Sevilla in the Europa League Final, UEFA announced on Wednesday.

He confronted Taylor in the car park, following Roma’s defeat on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Budapest. 

“Mourinho is suspended for the next four European club competition matches that he could have participated in, for hurling abuse at match officials,” UEFA said in a statement.

Mourinho’s team will play in the Europa League group stage next season.

Roma was also fined 50,000 euros and banned from being accompanied by their fans for the next European match, as fans set off fireworks, threw objects, committed vandalism, and disturbed order.

The Italian capital club was also fined 5,000 euros for misconduct and required to contact the Hungarian Football Federation within 30 days to resolve the issue of damage caused by their fans at the stadium.
